How much does a financial plan cost?

Our Financial Plan costs £1,500, paid once, and £49 a month after that if you want it kept up to date. Regulated financial advice is priced separately: Unbiased’s February 2026 customer research puts retirement advice on a £500,000 pension at £6,700.

What each fee pays for

A financial advice fee pays for a personal recommendation on a product, such as a pension, an investment or a policy, from a firm authorised by the FCA, with the protections that come with regulated advice.

The Financial Plan pays for the planning: your position, every year to age 100 with UK tax applied, the stress tests, the findings and your next ninety days. It is financial planning, which is not regulated financial advice, and it contains no product recommendations. Where a decision in your plan needs a recommendation, we say so and can introduce you to Equity & General, authorised and regulated by the FCA (No. 474163). The introduction is optional. If you become their client, E&G pay Buzz a commission, and we tell you about it before the introduction.

Your plan goes with you to an adviser, with the modelling already done.

Ongoing costs per year

Ongoing feeWhat it isA year
Ongoing planning from Buzz Financial Planning£49 a month, any size of pension£588

Unbiased quotes the 1% figure for money under management, so it covers managing the investments as well as advice. Ongoing planning covers the projection, the tax and whether the plan still works. Buzz Accounting Ltd does not manage or hold client money.

Questions about the cost

Does the price depend on how much I have?

No. The Financial Plan is £1,500 whether your pensions come to £80,000 or £1.5m, and a couple pays the same as one person. Ongoing planning is £49 a month on the same basis. The work is the same shape for every client: the fact find, the modelling, the two thousand reshuffled runs, the stress tests and the session where we go through the results with you. Connecting your bank through the free Healthcheck saves data entry, and that saving is in the price.

What does an advice fee pay for that the Financial Plan does not?

A personal recommendation on a product: which pension to use, whether to transfer one, which fund, which policy, and sometimes the management of your investments afterwards. Only an FCA-authorised firm can give that, and it comes with the protections of regulated advice. The Financial Plan describes your position, models your future and sets out the decisions, and gives no product recommendations. Where your plan shows a decision that needs one, we say so and can introduce you to Equity & General (FCA 474163), and we tell you about E&G’s commission to Buzz before the introduction.

Are there any other charges?

No other charges for the Financial Plan. The £1,500 is paid once through our online checkout. Ongoing planning is optional, paid monthly by Direct Debit, collected for Buzz Accounting by Adfin, and you can cancel any time. Wills and lasting powers of attorney through Buzz Legal are priced separately. These fees are the only payment we take for planning work. Product providers pay us nothing, because we recommend no products.

Where do the advice fee figures come from?

From Unbiased, the UK site for finding a financial adviser, on its page about the cost of financial advice, updated 13 August 2026. The figures for retirement advice on a £500,000 pension, inheritance tax planning on a £1m estate and initial setup on a portfolio up to £100,000 are its published averages, the first two from customer research in February 2026. Its UK hourly range for advisers is £100 to £350, and it gives a typical ongoing fee of at least 1% of the money managed. Individual firms charge differently, so ask any adviser for their own fees in writing.

Can I start with something free?

Yes. The free projection takes eight figures and shows the age your money runs out in about two minutes, in today’s money with no tax applied. The free Healthcheck connects your bank read-only and sorts your recent spending into categories, also in about two minutes, and it cannot move money. If both show a comfortable position, you have your answer at no cost. You can also book a 60-minute call with a planner.
